uDesign analyzed TAG’s product needs and developed an initial prototype, which was tested for proof of concept with industry stakeholders. Insights gained from testing led to prototyping dozens of mechanisms and eventually the development of a second iteration that was more simplified and focused on ease of manufacturing, cost reduction, and practicality. A patent was then filed.
A pilot project involving building 36 “PODs” that saw deployment in a Natural Food Pantry for 4 months. We also developed a web app to control the entire system (full-stack development for the firmware and software), as well as our own PCB to optimize and reduce electronics cost by 80%. This enabled a Design for Manufacturing phase which reduced the overall price of the system by 300% and optimized components for mass manufacturing.
The product is now deployed and successfully operating in 5 countries globally. Notably, Google engaged with TAG which was a major step for brand recognition and exposure
