Guy Murray, a local inventor who was featured on CBC’s “Dragon’s Den” for his innovative sliding barbell idea, sought design and manufacturing help to get his idea off the ground.
uDesign reviewed the existing barbell, which was determined to be too complicated, bulky, and expensive to produce. We redesigned the product, reducing parts by 55% and decreasing production cost by 60%.
With our back-of-house production facility, we refined the product and then manufactured several test bars. We integrated feedback from industry professionals and further refined the bars to improve the ability to slide the racks.
After years stuck in neutral with an innovative design, the Dynamic Press is now ready to launch into the gym equipment industry as a disruptive product that was capable of being mass-produced at a price point that can allow successful penetration into this highly competitive market.
