uDesign Solutions improved efficiency at Laiterie de l’Outaouais with custom trays and conveyor guides for streamlined packaging and delivery.
A local dairy producer was seeking custom shipping pallets that allowed for efficient transport of both bagged and bottled products.
uDesign Solutions undertook a comprehensive analysis of Laiterie de L’Outaouais’s requirements, including the size, weight, and nature of the bagged and bottled milk products. Collaboratively, they brainstormed potential designs, focusing on durability, space optimization, and ease of handling.

Prototype Development: The initial design was transformed into a prototype. This prototype was a scaled-down version of the proposed pallet, allowing for cost-effective testing and adjustments.
Testing Phase: The prototype underwent rigorous testing to evaluate its performance under various conditions – load bearing, stress tests, and compatibility with Costco’s shipping requirements. Feedback was gathered from key stakeholders, including shipping personnel and Costco representatives.
Refinement: Based on the testing results, several refinements were made to the design. This included adjustments to the pallet’s dimensions for optimal space utilization in transportation vehicles, enhancement of the material for increased durability, and incorporation of ergonomic features for easy handling.
Final Product: The final design of the custom shipping pallet was a resounding success. Created using vacuum forming, it was tailored to hold both bagged and bottled milk securely, maximizing space while ensuring ease of loading and unloading.
Impact on Business Operations: The introduction of the custom pallets significantly streamlined the shipping process for Laiterie de L’Outaouais. There was a noticeable reduction in handling time and transportation costs. Moreover, the new pallets improved the safety of the milk during transit, reducing the risk of product damage.
